Summer Riding and Farm Camp at Meadowlarke South

A little bit of Country in Mississauga!!

Join us for a fun-filled week on the Farm. Campers will participate in everything from Horseback Riding to Horse Care and learning about farm animals. Being hands on is the best way to build a bond and create confidence. All our animals are rescued, campers will learn about their amazing stories.

Campers will be divided into groups and rotate through the following activities everyday except Friday which is “Show Day”

Riding Lesson
Depending on your level of experience, you will be riding at the walk, trot and canter. If you are in one of the higher levels you may even do some jumping.
Lunging & Horse Games
Campers will participate in different activities on the lunge line and games on the horses to aid in balance/confidence
Horsemanship
Campers will be hands on with the horses learning how to properly groom, saddle and what is involved in day to day horse care
Know Your Horse
Explore horses further learning about horse breeds, colours, habits, behaviors, illness’ etc.
Know Your World
Animals, The Environment, Health & You – Hands on humane education with our rescued pigs, cows, sheep, goats, ducks, turkeys & chickens, we discuss our values and the lives of animals that are consumed by humans. We talk about our environment and what we can do to make a positive difference. These are often lively discussions, and even at a young age campers have strong opinions, which they have an opportunity to voice.
Games
Active and team building games where campers spend time playing outside, weather permitting

Friday’s we run a special day. In the morning campers participate in fun group games, some of which relate to what they have learned throughout the week. In the afternoon Parents & Friends are invited to see campers dress their horses for a costume contest, after which they will perform a Musical Ride where they will demonstrate the riding skills that they learned.

Bring your own lunch and invite your Family and Friends to come out and watch starting at 1:45 on Friday.

Some weeks will be Theme weeks, where we learn more about a certain farm animal or an environmental topic. Campers will do crafts and group songs related to the topic.,

On hot days we will play water games with the hose or sprinkler, we do recommend that campers bring a change of clothes.

We strongly recommend that campers wear pants to ride. Shorts or capris don’t supply enough protection and rub marks on the legs can occur. Breeches are the best option, but soft material pants like leggings, yoga pants or khakis can also be worn.

Sandals, Crocs or open toed shoes can not be worn at any time around the animals.

Ages: 7-14 ( all campers must be 7 years old for their 1st day of camp )

Location: Meadowlarke South in Mississauga

Camp Hours: 9am-4pm please see policies regarding early and late pick up

Extended Hours: 8am-5:30pm – $55.00+hst per week

Equipment Rentals: Helmet/Crop/Boots – $40+hst per week
Helmet/Crop – $29+hst per week
Boots – $20+hst per week

We provide the following size range of rental equipment
Helmets – 6 5/8 – 7 3/8 metric 20 1/2 – 23 1/8
Boots – Children’s 12 – Men’s 11 metric 30-44

5 Day Week Fee: $595+hst

4 Day Week Fee: $499+hst (August Civic Holiday week only )

Above fees include a $70 non refundable administration fee.
